In November of 2008, I realized I was letting myself die. My weight was near 200 lbs., my joints ached constantly, I used the stairs in my house only if absolutely necessary, my blood pressure and cholesterol were high, I didn't play with my children and shopping was unbearable. Shopping was difficult because it felt like an effort to even walk from the car to the mall. Then, when I got there, nothing fit and everything looked terrible on me. I used to love shopping. I was also depressed.no wonder.
The really sad part was that I used to be a dancer. I loved moving my body - being in control of my body. If I couldn't be at the studio, I'd be riding my bike or playing racquetball. I was always in motion. How did I get to this point??
I realized it didn't really matter how I got to this point. What did matter was getting healthy. I had already joined Anytime Fitness, but I hardly ever went. I had always belonged to a gym and even used trainers in the past. Nothing ever lasted for very long. One day, the white board here in the entryway caught my attention. Performance Training Solutions and a "Fitness Coach" sounded different. I finally decided to join in January of 2009. I met Ryan Arguello, and my life changed forever.
He taught me, in baby steps, the right ways to exercise and eat. I never felt overwhelmed. Every week he gave me little bits of information as I was ready to use it. And for some reason, unlike all the trainers that came before him, I had faith in him. Maybe it was because I felt he had faith in me. But I trusted his process would work, and it has!
I haven't felt this strong in years. When I'm walking with someone, they have to keep up with me. I smile a lot more now. My blood pressure is down. My cholesterol is great. I'm down 2, almost 3 sizes. My depression is gone. I look younger.
My family is so happy for me. They were worried about my health for so long. I know they are proud of how far I've come. I still have a ways to go, but I know I can and will achieve my goal.
So, thank you Anytime Fitness. But most of all, thank you Ryan. I consider it a privilege and an honor to be working with you. You gave me my life back and I will be forever in your debt.

Hello my name is Tina Collins, I am 52 years old. I have been married 32 years have one son , a grandson and a poodle. I am a med aide at Park Centre in Newton, Iowa. I am also going to college to get my nursing license.
I started the Mentorship because I needed help, my blood pressure was out of control, my cholesterol was off the charts, and I weighed a whopping 230 pounds. Something had to be done. I sure wasn't doing very good on my own.
In the past I have tried video workouts, going a few days by just drinking juice, once I even tried just eating salads. None of these options helped me they just made things worse.
The mentorship I have received from PTS has meant so much to me. The biggest impact has been the support. They have been there every step of the way. The encouragement to push myself for success. Just knowing that these people are not just coaches, but are individuals that care for others, and want the best for them health wise, and to help them reach their goals.
I do my training with PTS at Anytime Fitness in Newton, Iowa. On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays I do about 40 minutes of alternating 5 minutes with weights then 5 minutes cardio. On Tuesdays and Fridays I do 30 minutes of cardio. I take Wednesdays and Sundays off. I enjoy working out it gives me energy and strength.
With PTS helping me I have learned to eat healthy. Protein helps build muscle, increase strength and overall performance. For every 100 calories of protein a female can burn 20 calories just from digestion. To accelerate metabolism and maintain energy eat 5-6 meals a day. Watch your portion sizes. I am on a 1400 calorie intake daily. 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20%fat.
When I see people working in the gym, if they knew how our bodies worked with diet and exercise how much faster they could reach their goals. Since I have started the mentorship program I have been taken off of a blood pressure medication and taken off a cholesterol medication. I am saving $350.00 dollars a month. I have also gone from 230 pounds down to 168 pounds. From a size 20 down to a size 12.
If you have support, encouragement and a will to succeed you can reach your goals. Just take the first step and walk in the door. Everything else will fall into place. I think a lot of what is holding people back, is being afraid of how much its going to cost. But when you get healthier you save money. Don't be afraid of what people think you look like, because 9 out of 10 have been in the same place you are now. My favorite thing about PTS to me is the friends I have made and knowing they are at my side for the long run!!!!!!!!

My Journey to a new me began on November, 2007 when I made the decision to join Anytime Fitness and signed up for a free consultation with PTS (Performance Training Solutions). I weighed 417lbs and was miserable. I was fortunate in some ways however, that I didn't have any serious weight related health problems other than arthritic knees, which the excess weight doesn't help.
After meeting with Jason Simmons from PTS, he explained the connection between diet/nutrition and exercise, I guess you can say that I finally..."got it", so I enrolled in the Bronze Mentorship program.
Over the next six months, I learned that increasing your metabolism is the key to weight loss, along with diet/nutrition and the right combination of cardio/strength training. Jason gave me the tools and the "no nonsense" motivation that I need to do start down this path. It starts with the "Fitness Dream" and my goals, and went through portion control, protein and carbohydrates and their effect on the body and weight loss. It went through a series of workout routines, all with a specific effect in mind. I was amazed about how the body's basal metabolic rate works and how hard I was actually working at staying overweight. Throughout this whole process, Jason was always available to answer my questions and give me the encouragement I needed and to tailor-make the program to fit my needs.
It's been six months now and I'm proud to say that I've lost over 60 pounds. While it's only about a third of what I WILL BE LOSING, it's a heckuva great start! It took 47 years for me to get to the weight I'm at now, and I'm realistic enough to know that it's going to take me some time to reach my goal weight. I have energy that's "through the roof" and I love the attention from my family and friends as they've watched me begin this transformation. It won't be long till I need all new clothes!!
I've totally changed my eating habits...let me emphasize, "habits"...defined as "A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition." I realize what I was doing wrong and there's no going back! I highly recommend this program if you "seriously" want to make a change for the positive!
Thanks PTS, Anytime Fitness, Jason, Ryan and Marci for all your help and encouragement. And thank you "ME"...after all, I made the decision and I'm the one who's done the work! I'm on my way and there's no looking back! I know I've added years to my life by simply taking control of it!
